Meeting tonight and I was excited to see how my secret sister liked her gift. Imagine my surprise when she got 2 gifts. I talked to the person in charged and was shocked to find I had the other X. Now how to figure out if she got a gift tonight? I thought I saw one at her chair but I'm not positive.
Plus this throws off my whole gift giving plan. I'm not sure if the other stuff in my stash will work for the new X. sigh....
It makes me wonder if it's time for me to say good bye to this group. I have fun with them and also feel like a third wheel at times. We are at very different stages in our lives. I graduated with one of the ladies daughters... They are expecting grandchildren and I'm still hoping for children.
There are several wonderful people I've met through sorority and I know that I will remain friends with a few of them. This is one of the hard parts of life. I feel like I'm in the group just to be in the group.

Have you ever had one of those days?
The kind where you wake up late and as you’re doing your last mirror check and asking your husband if you look OK? He replies with “You look good for getting ready so fast”. I don’t know about you but it stopped me dead in my tracks and I just looked at him. Took him a second to realize that I wasn’t happy, I actually saw the thoughts go through his head. What did I say that’s making her look at me like this? Then the Oh crap she’s not talking she’s really ticked – especially when the hand went to my hip. This went on for several seconds.
Of course I must tell you that hubby’s glasses suck and he can only see up close out of one eye through the glasses and to see he has to raise his eyebrow….can you picture it yet? Reminds me of some kind of cartoon bird and I always want to laugh.
So he’s looking at me like that and says what’s wrong. This whole time I’m trying to figure out how I want to word what I’m going to say. Trying not to laugh at his look. (And yes in the back of my head I knew he meant it as a compliment, just one of those days where I had to keep him on his toes).
I finally say, do you realize what you said? “You look good for getting ready so fast, like it’s not as good as usual but its good enough for going to work.” I could see the relief wash over him. He chuckled and said you took it out of context. Um yeah that was out of context. He did his little sigh and said “Honey, you look beautiful. It looks like you spent a lot more time than you did getting ready.”
I love this man - crazy as he is and even though sometimes he speaks without his “I’m talking to my wife” filter like this morning.
Getting in the car and seeing a cappuccino made my day. 53* I needed a little something to warm me up. The drive in was interesting, in general I don’t like leaving home after 6:15. That’s when the mad rush starts and at 6:30 (this morning) it’s the “Oh crap I’m going to be late for work” kind of drivers.
The drive out to the Avenue of the Saints was pretty typical. I got my first glimpse of the creamy pumpkin orange sun. It’s the color I associate with the sun in fall. YUM! Between the temps and the sun it made me hungry for pancakes. Some days I wish I had time for a cooked breakfast in the morning. Then I think of getting up before 5 AM and think it’s not worth it.
I get to the 'scary' intersection (lots of accidents happen there) and I notice there’s an arch way of fog stretching over the road. On the sides the fog was glistening. Going Disne.y on you, it was like the fairies were out adding the dew drops and the sun was sparkling off their wings. It was enchanting and mystical. As I passed under the arch I felt a change in myself – like all the stress was drained, my mind cleared and I knew this was going to be a great day.

First finished quilting project
Today I'm happy to announce that I finally finished my first quilting project.

It's actually the third project I started on. I'm still afraid to quilt my quilts. :-)
So far I have three quilt tops and one ironing board cover in waiting. Of course I have four other projects I can't wait to start...I wonder what I'll finish next.
This is not your momma's quilting. I'm being a rule breaker and I'm loving it!

Blogging break
We now interrupt this blog because this blogger is becoming obsessed with QUILTING!
I've made 2 quilt tops, still trying to figure out the best way to put them together and quilt. I've got one table runner mostly done, just need to add the binding. And I'm in the process of putting together some squares, still trying to figure out what they will turn into. :)
Right now I'm finding that the pre-cut squares/strips are working great for me. I don't have the patience to cut out everything. When I get the urge I just want to sit down and sew.
So far I'm really enjoying making the tops. The rest of it not so much. Oh and I'm embracing the fact that my squares and tops may or may not be 'square'.
I'll be back as soon as I can get some good pics of my projects. ;)

CIJ recap
Wow this month has just flown past! While I did not complete the crafty tasks I thought I would I did get crafty!
I was thinking of Christmas...

My thoughts were also on Halloween (for a lot of the month)
I did start a Halloween banner. Letters on the tags and still no clue as to how to decorate them. :)
Announcing the latest craft to add to my bag....

I was talking to my friend Linda and she was talking about her quilting. She started last year and is currently taking a class. I was at my sister in laws with no crafts and decided I wanted to quilt. Lets just say that first square did not turn out. I was determined to figure something out.
Lucky for me they make Charm packs. Pre cut 5 in squares. WOO HOO! I'm not good at getting exact 5 in cuts. I was at my local quilt store and came across the Halloween print pack. I feel in love. :)
I thought with my scrapping background a quilt layout would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I spent hours trying to decide on a layout. Figured something out and went to bed. Then I had to wait a whole day before I could start sewing.
This top went together so easily. Finished in a weekend and I'm a beginner!
Just this week I picked up some more squares and after some trial and errors decided to make a 9 piece block. Which I cut, rearranged and put back together. This was and interesting process. Almost to much cutting but I did it.

Today between cleaning I'm working on adding a back and batting. I'd rather be piecing a top!
So I'm happy to report that I'm crafting again. Definitely in a different way than what I'm use to. It feels great to be using the creative side of my brain.
Stay tuned, this week I'm learning beading.....
