Living life in neutral

I saw a quote recently about living your life in drive and not reverse or neutral. Lately I feel like I've been in neutral and I'm tired of it! I'm starting to switch into drive just running into a few bumps.

Change is in the wind and I'm not talking about the frost advisory.

I'm excited!

5. Visiting with friends and finding a great deal on Boyd's bears.

6. Iowa won their football game! Woo Hoo!

7. Finished my Christmas embroidery. I might do a few more embellishments but for now it's done. :)

8. Some outside fall pics

9. Vikings won a nail biter. Those kind of games stress me out.

10. Made some paper pumpkins. My idea for them didn't workout but they look ok here.

11. Finding treasures in the scrap box. My mom had a skirt out of this fabric back in the 70s and I always loved it. When I saw this in the scrap pile I had a lot of grand ideas. When I got home and pulled it out I realized this is the actual skirt! My mom sure was skinny!

This is a past project I finally took a picture of. :)

My weekend is almost complete. Football was watched, enjoyed and I almost lost my voice cheering. Laundry is done, dried or hung to dry. Only dishes and some time with my boys is left.

On a side note, I just spent some time adding labels to some of my old posts. I quickly became distracted by reading what I've written. In just this year there are posts that I don't remember writing. Lots of thoughts running thru my mind again.

Rudy Day - projects!

So my Friday night didn't go like I had planned. But I had fun anyway.

I went to a neighbors garage sale and found two stuffed Boyd's Christmas bears for 50 cents each. Woo Hoo! I love Boyds bears and always wanted these.

Photobucket

So while I didn't work on anything I was thinking about Christmas.

Today I started on a Christmas project - I made this sketch a few weeks ago and I am excited to see it take shape. Still a work in progress but it goes fast.

Photobucket

I went to the library today and picked up some craft books and I can't wait to add some new projects to my list. Also checked out White Christmas - I hoped to use it to inspire me to work on projects. LOL I did everything but work on projects and then it was 7 and time for football.

Spent some time with my mom last night and today too. I was hoping to find some fabric scraps to make ornaments for my sorority sisters. I didn't find what I wanted but I did raid her stash. We'll see what I can come up with. I also found some more yarn to use on a few other projects.

I really need to make a list and try and prioritize everything I want to do. I know I won't be able to complete everything I've been thinking about.

Rudy Day!

I recently heard about Rudy Day and I'm hooked. Rudy Day is celebrated the 25th of every month in honor of Christmas and is named after Rudolph. People do Christmas projects on Rudy day and prepare for the holiday season.

Today I have to work and I think after work I'll do a little Christmas embroidery project that I have sketched out. I might celebrate on Saturday too, I think I want to make Christmas ornaments for all the sorority sisters. What can I make that relates to travel? Maybe a homemade luggage tag ornament? Hmmm that might actually work.

And there's always the purse I want to make....not sure if it will be a gift or for me. The afghans to finish, scrapbook pages for Mom and her book that's way out of date, Christmas card photo ops with Buddie, the list could go on and on and on. =)

Anyway have a great Rudy Day!

Happy Fall!

Wow this year has just flown by. Especially the last month and a half...where did August go? It's amazing how I loose track of time when I'm not working. Then with everything going on with my mom I lost most of September too. I just wish that bills took a break when we did. sigh!

This fall I'm looking forward to
* football
* the leaves changing colors
* the smell of chocolate in the air (thanks Nestles!)
* the sound of the marching band which I only hear if I'm home sick from work :(
* the cooler temps .... not sure if that really counts this year it's been so cold
* seeing bald eagles on the river
* fall celebrations
* holiday bazaars
* a warm cozy bed
* decorating for fall and Halloween
* Cake class #4
* Christmas is coming

This fall I'm not looking forward to
* being overtaken by geese - I want to take Buddie for a walk along the river just to see what happens...hehehe
* driving to work in the dark
* the daylight hours being shorter. :(
* the beetles that come from the soybean field in the back yard.

So what are you looking forward to this fall season?

Typical September weekend

Football, football, football.

Spent the day watching football while doing a few other things. Watching Iowa play Arizona & hoping for a win.

Tomorrow is NFL both games at Noon. :( And Nephew #2 plays at a local college so we are planning to go down to that. He played at half time of the game today - sad I missed that.

The big news of the weekend is that Mom went home home. She was so happy to just be home, take a warm shower, and eat what she wants when she wants. She spent the week with her sister and it was time for them to be apart.

Guess it's been awhile since I did an update. It's been a hectic few weeks and I don't know what I told who anymore.

We found out on Monday that Mom did have cancer but her lymph nodes were clear so no Chemo or anything. We are very thankful. Mom was also release from the hospital on Monday and came home with me. The next morning she wanted to go to one of her sisters since neither Boyd or I would be home. Which was fine, her sister lives on one level in a multi level condo and Mom was able to walk the hall and the stairs.

So after the stress of the last few weeks we are laying low this weekend and that is fine with me! Buddie need some attention, he was so good yesterday went out at 6 AM and was good until 7-7:30 PM when I got home. Poor boy!

I love Sundays!

Football season is here! I am so excited! Minnesota won - extra bonus!

Mom is doing great! Today the Dr said she might get to go home tomorrow! Now to arrange transportation and a place to stay. Thinking home wouldn't be best right now.

Now we wait for the test results. He thinks he'll have them tomorrow too. sigh! I'm so not looking forward to going back to work.

Our weekend was filled with football, hospital and playing with Buddie. I'm exhausted.

one day post surgery

The surgery went well, he got everything and said the liver is clear. That is a great sign!

Mom was up walking once last night. Got cleaned up today and went for twice as long of a walk. Now she's sitting in a chair reading her book.

She has some good color in her face which is great. Not in too much pain and taking lots of cat naps.

I'm happy to say that Mom is a trooper and motivated to get back on her feet. She was ready to walk again at 8 AM. I think we're going to need to watch and make sure that she doesn't do too much each time out.

Prayers needed again.

My mom is scheduled to have surgery on Thursday. We are praying that she does not have cancer and taking things one day at a time. She has an excellent surgeon and I know that he will do the best job that he can.

To say I'm stressed is putting it mildly. She is my only parent and this has caused us to become closer. I've been at her house almost everyday since we found out.

Now it's late and I still need to get bags packed for work and a hospital stay. I have no idea what to take to keep myself occupied and pass the time.

Little things that make me smile

Lately I've been trying to look/think of the little things that make me smile.

Today it was going out for ice cream with the hubby. As we were enjoying our treat I told him it really felt like a date. He told me it was. lovey sigh!

With everything that has been going on for us we took time to just enjoy our time together. It was really nice. And there was no shock of reality when we got home. Double bonus!
