One Little Word 2011

I've been thinking about my word a lot in the last week or so. I didn't officially pick one for 2010 and I missed it.

I was thinking of Hope .... but it felt like a sweater that was too tight.

I happened upon this blog and as soon as I saw her word I knew it was my word of the year.

BUILD

I want to BUILD my relationships, my business, my life, my knowledge, my ideas, my list, my portfolio.... BUILD... i could go on and on!! ~ Kim K.

Some where in the last few I saw another idea where you write out what you will be thankful for next year at this time. I changed it up to write out what I want to accomplish in the next year. I didn't realize it until I saw Kim's blog but most of what I want to accomplish is Building things - pretty much what Kim said. :)

December Daily ....

I don't know how it happened, but I've lost track of time (again!) and haven't been keeping up with the December Daily stuff.

I think it has something to do with me not thinking it's Christmas time. We have 3 trees in the living room that still need to be decorated. I'm almost to the point where I don't want to.

Definitely an odd year in our house. The big Christmas presents between Boyd and I have already been exchanged. Nothing big, some dishes for me and a nice coat for Boyd. We'll get around to exchanging a few things later this month I'm sure.

Christmas with my family is this coming weekend. Brother, nephews and my Mom are done. Sister in law I'm stumped. I have a few thoughts going around my head but it doesn't seem like enough.

As for crafting I have so many projects on my plate, I need to prioritize and I'm not good at that. :( I'll get done what I need to and if need be things will be late. It's just the way things go. :)

December Daily

December 2 - Thursday
We found out that Marion is changing the name of their wrestling tourney to the "Loyd Shaffer Invitational" for my late brother in law ... it's bittersweet.

I decorated my desk at work and everyone is making fun of my tree. It's so not a Charlie Brown Tree .... I know I need pics.

December 3 - Friday
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We had our first measurable snow for the season, really first more than flurries. Boyd was home and able to take the dogs out for a run. Buddie has always loved the snow and Emma....I guess she was fun to watch. Nose to the ground and tush in the air then flicking the snow and trying to catch it.

When I took them out for their nightly run they were both a site to see. Emma didn't realize that the cement was slippery and kept crashing. One time she was running full speed towards the top of the steps and hit the brakes a little too late. Slid across the top step and seemed like down the rest.

December 4 - Saturday
Four was the lucky number today. I went to the Christmas dinner with Mom at the senior center. I picked up my card and it was a 4 of diamonds .... Mom saw it and said you might win she picks the date a lot of times.

I actually started the day decorating a little and working on stockings and pjs. One stocking done and one done but taken apart. The Christmas movies were reruns so I did Netflix and watched Bones.

Since we had 2-3 inches of snow I *had* to run the snow blower to clear the driveway. Boyd was bummed that he wasn't able to do it. He loves that kind of stuff. I was just happy I was able to finish the drive way and steps in 30 mins so I could make it to Moms for the lunch.

Spent the afternoon playing outside with the dogs. Working on the stockings and putting finishing touches on the pjs. Started the last set .... thinking it's going to be too big so I'm holding off on finishing them.

Ended the day watching Farewell Mr. Kringle, drinking hot cider and falling asleep in the recliner. :)

Friday Funny

A blog in my reader had a 26 Truths for Mature Humans. The list was kind of interesting, then I read this and laughed almost enough to cry....

26. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 4 feet away, in about 1.9 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

Mostly cause that's me!

December Daily - day 1

Happy first day of December. It's been a cold, bitter, snow flurries kind of day here. When I got home from work I really wanted to put the main Christmas tree up. Unfortunately I need to do a little cleaning and rearranging before that will happen.

Instead I've spent a quiet night surfing the net and enjoying some quiet time with Boyd and the dogs. The dogs had a great run tonight and I always enjoy watching them.

Now I'm off to do some quilting and possibly some work on other christmas presents.

Christmas crafting gifts:
Done: 2
In progress: 5
Left: ... guess I should make a list. lol!
