For Today

My friend Martha had this on her blog, the ideas from The Simple Woman's Daybook and I decided to join in.  Something to help me remember the good and happy things from the day is always good especially on a Wednesday.

FOR TODAY

Tuesday March 16, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen as usual. A soft rain is falling and the temps are in the mid 40s. Not so bad for Iowa in March. Of course the weekend is calling for highs in the 30s with snow.

I am thinking... I need to find something green to wear tomorrow.

I am thankful ... for Buddie, we spent some quality time in my chair tonight. Somethings up with him and we're not sure what. We think he might be jealous of Emma.

From the kitchen... I made Tortilla soup and then made myself a quesadilla.

I am wearing... my gnome pajama pants and a long sleeve red t shirt.

I am creating... a website for work is bogging down my mind. I need to figure out what kind of services I can provide for a local business and present a business plan. I was supposed to bring my proposal tomorrow night and it's just not going to happen. They want a website .... :)

I am going... to get some exercise in before heading to bed. Maybe some Wii bowling.

I am reading... a new author, she writes about a vet that solves mysteries. So far it's pretty good.

I am hoping... that we figure out what's going on with Buddie.

I am hearing... American Idol. I'm not into this season but Boyd is.

Around the house... I'm happy that I got some of the Christmas project stuff packed up over the weekend. Now to get it out to the garage and get the rest packed up.

On my mind... just trying to relax and wind down so that I can get a good nights sleep.

One of my favorite things... coming home and having the dogs being so happy to see me. It's like I haven't seen them in months. And of course having Boyd home too.

Quote... The dogs live here you are just visiting.

FOR TODAY

Thursday March 11, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen. We had a fairly good day mid 50s and some sun. Unfortunately the rain made the snow melt quickly and since the ground hasn't thawed most went to the river and there's minor flooding with the crest set for Sunday. They aren't expecting the floods of 2008 but it's on everyone's mind.

I am thinking... I'm very tired and want to go to bed. And tomorrows Friday!!! woot!

I am thankful ...

From the kitchen... it was closed tonight....seems to be a theme lately. I had raw oatmeal milk and sugar. Layer it in a glass or cup stir and enjoy. It's something I remember my Dad eating when I was a little girl. :)

I am wearing... boxer shorts and my Iowa hoodie. I was so warm when I got home from work so I put on my first shorts of the year. :) Now I'm curled up under my Iowa fleece blanket.

I am creating... a cozy for my new stainless steel water bottle. And getting old pages into actual scrapbooks.

I am going... fill my water bottle and head to bed when I'm done.

I am reading... nothing....I'm between books. Finished one this morning 'Footloose' and ready to start the animal mystery....maybe not tonight.

I am hoping...

I am hearing... Grey's Anatomy

Around the house... I am smelling the sugar cookie Scensty wax I have going. Otherwise it's a bit of a mess. I really need to work on that this weekend. :(

On my mind... life is stressful....

One of my favorite things... seeing the sun today and opening the sun roof for a little bit on the way home.

FOR TODAY

Wednesday February 24, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen. We still have lots of snow and while today it was nice and sunny it was also very cold with a high of 13* and wind chills. brrr!

I am thinking... I'm glad I went to the Dr. today. I got an ear wash - there was a lot of junk in there.

I am thankful ... for my family and friends and their good health. I saw a casual friend today and she filled me in on her husbands health. After surviving a cancerous brain tumor and surgery, then lung cancer and surgery and all the associated chemo and radiation all from May-Sept 2009. In Dec they found more lesions on his brain and he's going through chemo and radiation again. They are living in the moment and having fun on his good days. I admire them for staying positive and fighting this.

From the kitchen... it was closed tonight. Milk and cereal were left on the counter. :) Hmmm I had the same thing last time.

I am wearing... my yoga pants and a Vikings sweatshirt with no socks. Stepped in the water from the washer and I HATE soggy socks.

I am creating... not much right now. Taking some time for me watching the Olympics and reading more.

I am going... to head to bed soon.

I am reading... Burn by Linda Howard - casual reading with a touch of romance in the first three quarters of the book.

I am hoping... I get a great nights sleep. Been having some insomnia and have been sleeping in recliner or on the couch several times in the last few days. .... WOW I didn't realize this started that long ago...still going on. Need to invest in some Tylenol PM.

I am hearing... Bobsledding at the Olympics

Around the house... I have been busy putting finishing touches on the kitchen - after 5 years it's about time. Painting outlet and register covers. Making the Laundry room homey and trying to figure out how to make an awesome sign for the door. The house is in disarray boxes of Christmas project stuff is out and there's the leak in the ceiling. We have the ceiling wedged up and a box with string to collect all the water. :(

On my mind... not much, just thinking I need a breathing treatment before bed. :(

One of my favorite things... the Olympics - I really enjoy watching them and hearing all of the interesting stories.

Quote... Life is a fairytale written by God's hand.

No pics to share. I forgot to upload pics and now it's bed time. :) yet again.....:)

FOR TODAY

Wednesday February 10, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen. The fresh 8.8 in of snow is melting and my roof is leaking. :(

I am thinking... I'm very tired and I need to say good night and go to bed.

I am thankful ... that I got to drive 65 both to work and home from work. It's been a loooong time since that's happened.

From the kitchen... it was closed tonight. Milk and cereal were left on the counter. :)

I am wearing... my Iowa hoodie :) it's fully mine now. And my fleece jammy pants. oh so comfy.

I am creating... lots of ideas tumbling in my head. Still working on the online ordering website for work and it's taking a lot of energy.

I am going... play with the dogs before bed. Buddie and Em keep taking turns and burying the favorite ball between my chair and foot stool. The space isn't big enough for both of them.

I am reading... a western romance by Diana Palmer....I think.

I am hoping... I get a great nights sleep. Been having some insomnia and have been sleeping in recliner or on the couch several times in the last few days.

I am hearing... American Idol and the fox news.

Around the house... most of the Christmas decorations have been packed away. The Valentines tree is up along with several other decorations.

On my mind... wishing my family would start feeling better. Both dogs are on antibiotics and Boyd's not feeling well.

One of my favorite things... hearing from friends.

Quote... Lead, follow or get out of the way.

No pics to share. I forgot to upload pics and now it's bed time. :)

FOR TODAY

Wednesday January 27, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen

I am thinking... I should be in bed

I am thankful ... that my mom is still with us and most all of her siblings and their spouses.

From the kitchen... made Amy's scotcheroo's for work tomorrow. Boyd promised to stay out of them.

I am wearing... sweat pants and a t-shirt, not sure where my sweatshirt is but I'm getting cold.

I am creating... nothing. =(

I am going... to head to bed when I'm done with this post.

I am reading... another library book by Dixie Cash. Funny mystery.

I am hoping... that Boyd will come & tuck me in.

I am hearing... America's funniest home videos...I think

Around the house... got the pots and pans hand washed tonight and the dishwasher is running. that's good enough for me.

On my mind... the thought of not having kids makes me sad.

One of my favorite things... Boyd telling me he has a surprise for me when he gets home. Then not being able to hold in the surprise and blurting it out over the phone.

Quote... Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong they are weak but we are strong. ~ this was one of the songs at my great aunt's funeral today. I haven't sung that since I was in grade school.

No pics to share it's been kind of a dark week.

FOR TODAY

Wednesday January 20, 2010

Outside my window... it's windy, cold and freezing rain/sleet throughout the day.

I am thinking... my boss will be mad that I left early but I accomplished a lot from home.

I am thankful ... that the ice wasn't as bad as predicted.

From the kitchen... just discussing dinner. Boyd want's BLTs or Grilled Cheese. I wanted to use up the pork sausage in the fridge... we settled on the only thing my Grandpa could cook (according to my mom). Fried potatoes, pork sausage, onions and scrambled eggs all topped with cheese. Yummo!

I am wearing... sweat pants and a heavy Vikings sweatshirt.

I am creating... a new online ordering website for work. :) Need to get crafting for home.

I am going... to skip my walk tonight due to the weather. Instead we are going Wii bowling.

I am reading... a library book by Dixie Cash. Funny mystery.

I am hoping... that we have something sweet for a treat tonight.

I am hearing... Sports Center or Pardon the Interruption.

Around the house... picking up the house for company on Saturday. There will still be Christmas stuff up and out.

On my mind... I need to pay bills. I hate paying bills.

One of my favorite things... having my hubby surprise me with pictures he took around town.

Quote... One shoe can change your life. ~ Cinderella

My one little word for the year is CHANGE. I am making changes in my life.

Currrent changes:
* drinking 48+ ounces of water a day. Trying to drink 16 on the drive to work and I've noticed I'm more awake in the morning. :)
* walking every night when I get home from work and then feeding the dogs. I have more energy at night and the dogs seem happier.
* eating healthier and snacking healthier. I'm down 20 lbs since August. woo hoo!
* picking up the living room each night before bed. Kitchen stuff in kitchen, blankets folded and toys picked up. Em has been putting toys away when she's done with them :)
* kitchen - trying hard to keep up with the dishes was doing really well and slacked off over the weekend. Doing a bit better keeping the counters picked up.
* blogging schedule that I've been keeping up with.

FOR TODAY

Thursday January 14, 2010

Outside my window... the Christmas lights are finally off. My wreath and garlands will stay until more snow melts. =)

I am thinking... lots of thoughts have been tumbling through my head.

I am thankful for... my husband. As we were eating supper he looked at me and said this is the best time of the day. We are home together and enjoying our time with each other.

From the kitchen... Leftover pizza for me and Cheeseburger Mac for Boyd. Recipe on Monday.

I am wearing... my, err...Boyd's Iowa Hawkeyes hoodie and sweat pants.

I am creating...  trying to figure out a good toy I can make for the kids. The bears they have are getting torn up.

I am going... to watch Grey's Anatomy in fifteen mins.

I am reading... a library book. Don't remember the title or author. Haven't been really impressed.

I am hoping...

I am hearing... Bones is on TV and the dogs are snoring.

Around the house... I rearranged the dining room, moving the table against the sliding glass door and the dogs love it. More wrestling room. We love it cause it's easier to keep track of Em.

On my mind... life is short. I wish that I would have made some changes in my life before now. So many health issues are related to eating healthy and exercise. I'm working on both.

One of my favorite things... sitting in my chair, surfing the net with Buddie at my feet.

FOR TODAY

Thursday January 7, 2010

Outside my window... night has fallen.  The wind is howling and I'm afraid to see how high the drift in the driveway is.

I am thinking... I want to pick a word to live by for this year and the list of words I've thought of don't seem right.  I even read the list on Ali's blog and nothing is striking me as 'the one'.

I am thankful for... that I was able to take a snow (vacation) day today.

From the kitchen... Boyd and I worked together to make mashed potatoes, ham loaf and peas.  I'll post the ham loaf recipe on Monday.

I am wearing... My gnome pjs, some of my favorite retreat garb seemed perfect for my snow day.

I am creating...  a better home for our family.  Cleaned up a little of of my scrapping area and both of us commented on how much bigger it makes the room look.

I am going... to get ready for bed soon.

I am reading... I don't remember which book I am reading.  I know the star womans name is Alice and her nick name is Trip.

I am hoping... that I am able to make it to work in the morning.  It's a birthday lunch day.

I am hearing... yet another football game.  National Championship and it looks to be an interesting game since the star QB for Texas is out.

Around the house... sad to say this hasn't really changed...we are still decked out for Christmas.  Including the half started/half finished projects and displays.

On my mind... I am afraid to do many things because I'm afraid of success.  How wacked is that?  This year I want to make my own business where I make and sell things.  Now if I could just decided on a product line.

One of my favorite things... having a day off and being home with my husband.

For Today

My friend Martha had this on her blog, the ideas from The Simple Woman's Daybook and I decided to join in.  Something to help me remember the good and happy things from the day is always good especially on a Wednesday.

FOR TODAY
Wednesday December 30, 2009

Outside my window... night has fallen.  This is one of my favorite times of year.  It's night but the moon reflecting off the snow lets me see far into the field behind my house.  That's good since there's a lot of wildlife and a few stray dogs around here.

I am thinking... of writing a summary of what 2009 meant to our family - the feelings I have, events that have happened, basically how the year has left me feeling.

I am thankful for... our home, as Martha said I'm trying to create a soft landing spot for Boyd and myself.

From the kitchen...Wendy's was on the agenda for supper since Boyd picked me up and I got to show Emma off at work.  Back to supper...the Frosty was great, the sandwich was not.

I am wearing...Boyd's comfy Iowa Hawkeye's hoodie, it might stay in my side of the closet.  And some pajama pants.

I am creating... a blog entry.  :)  I have a scrapbook page started on my desk.  It's not looking like what I was imagining and I've hit a block.  :(  However it's the first time I've scrapped since May!

I am going... to sit back, relax, surf the net and watch football.  We love bowl season!

I am reading... some Debbie Macomber 2 fer book - a 2009 christmas release involving her three angels.  I'm very disappointed that the second book is a prior release that I've already read.  I'm happy that I made time to go to the library tonight and picked up some hot new books.  :)  Missed seeing the hottie librarians... darn it!

I am hoping... that the roads aren't too slick in the morning.

I am hearing... the sounds of football on the TV ... Go Huskers!  And the sweet sounds Emma makes when she's sleeping.

Around the house... we are still decked out for Christmas.  Including the half started/half finished projects and
displays.

On my mind... the quote about friends and the old friends being silver and the new friends gold or something like that.  Over the years I've realized that I'm the kind of person who knows a lot of people and is friendly with them but I have very few close personal friends.  I was remembering my close friends from high school and college I still consider them my BFFs but we don't talk as much as we once did.  I miss that!  When we get together we are able to talk like we were never apart.  It's one of the things I love!

One of my favorite things... puppy and doggie kisses.

Here's a pic from the last week...who doesn't love these faces!
