On to my projects. I felt the groove to sew and pulled out the charm pack I picked up a few weeks ago to make a quilt for my mom. I searched for ideas and nothing jumped out. So I decided to go with sewing the squares together. And I mixed them all up in a bag and pulled them out randomly. That is huge for me. :)
Over the weekend I got the top with borders stitched up. And after talking with my mom realized that she wants a real quilt, not a light quilt. So when I finished with the borders I folded it up nicely and added it to my quilting box. It's in line after three other quilts. :)

Over the last few weeks I've been working on either a Christmas gift or something for me. It's a quilt project of my own design, a table square - kind of a table runner but just a square. ... I stitched up random red squares and stitched the strips together. Added a red border, and a black with white and red polka dots border (used that for the back too). Layered everything up and then did my first hand quilting project. I stitched Mickey heads on to the quilt and one M. In my original design I was going to stitch a black Mickey head over part of the quilt. Now that it's done and bound I'm not sure. If the sun ever comes out then I'll get some pics and post them. Finished project #1.
Here's the front, you can kind of see the quilting....

Here's the back, I love how the red variegated thread sticks out.

For my last weekend project I finally finished one of my early projects. Its a rails quilt in pastel colors that I backed with flannel. I've been struggling with how to quilt the border and finally decided just to go with strips since that's what the quilt is made of. I did another first and wrapped the back to the front for the binding. That was kind of fun! Finished project #2.
I can't wait to wash my projects to see how they turn out. I have been curling up under my quilt. It's the perfect weight for this time of year. My only wish is that it was two feet longer. It works for a lap quilt and now I get to make something else. :)
Tonight I started another new project. A table runner with the partial charm pack I had. It involves more cutting than I like but I'm getting kind of tired of sewing all the 5" squares together.
