Have you ever had one of those days?

The kind where you wake up late and as you’re doing your last mirror check and asking your husband if you look OK? He replies with “You look good for getting ready so fast”. I don’t know about you but it stopped me dead in my tracks and I just looked at him. Took him a second to realize that I wasn’t happy, I actually saw the thoughts go through his head. What did I say that’s making her look at me like this? Then the Oh crap she’s not talking she’s really ticked – especially when the hand went to my hip. This went on for several seconds.

Of course I must tell you that hubby’s glasses suck and he can only see up close out of one eye through the glasses and to see he has to raise his eyebrow….can you picture it yet? Reminds me of some kind of cartoon bird and I always want to laugh.

So he’s looking at me like that and says what’s wrong. This whole time I’m trying to figure out how I want to word what I’m going to say. Trying not to laugh at his look. (And yes in the back of my head I knew he meant it as a compliment, just one of those days where I had to keep him on his toes).

I finally say, do you realize what you said? “You look good for getting ready so fast, like it’s not as good as usual but its good enough for going to work.” I could see the relief wash over him. He chuckled and said you took it out of context. Um yeah that was out of context. He did his little sigh and said “Honey, you look beautiful. It looks like you spent a lot more time than you did getting ready.”

I love this man - crazy as he is and even though sometimes he speaks without his “I’m talking to my wife” filter like this morning.

Getting in the car and seeing a cappuccino made my day. 53* I needed a little something to warm me up. The drive in was interesting, in general I don’t like leaving home after 6:15. That’s when the mad rush starts and at 6:30 (this morning) it’s the “Oh crap I’m going to be late for work” kind of drivers.

The drive out to the Avenue of the Saints was pretty typical. I got my first glimpse of the creamy pumpkin orange sun. It’s the color I associate with the sun in fall. YUM! Between the temps and the sun it made me hungry for pancakes. Some days I wish I had time for a cooked breakfast in the morning. Then I think of getting up before 5 AM and think it’s not worth it.

I get to the 'scary' intersection (lots of accidents happen there) and I notice there’s an arch way of fog stretching over the road. On the sides the fog was glistening. Going Disne.y on you, it was like the fairies were out adding the dew drops and the sun was sparkling off their wings. It was enchanting and mystical. As I passed under the arch I felt a change in myself – like all the stress was drained, my mind cleared and I knew this was going to be a great day.

Great post! I love how the sky is starting to change...though I wish we had a few more of the temperature changes to go with it all. Mr B, what are we gonna do with you? Oh well...as spousal filters so, his isn't TOO faulty, right?
