Maybell's

Maybell's soap and candles is a small business started by two friends who both have little sisters with Down Syndrome. They wanted to raise money for Down Syndrome Awareness.

One of the girls is the daughter of a couple I went to high school with. And the granddaughter of one of my neighbors. Small world. =)

I can't wait to try their products! Check out the button to the right for more information and a link to their website ---->

Three's? I say Uncle

They say things happen in three's. I've experienced it in the past. This time I say Uncle!

Loyd died in Feb.
One of Boyd's old coworkers lost her dad or husband, I can't remember.
One of Boyd's high school friends lost his father-in-law
Same friend and brother of one of our groomsmen lost their mom - he went to Maq tonight to the visitation.
One of my Mom's friends lost her father - I took Mom to the visitation tonight.
One of my coworkers lost her uncle.

And that's just the ones I remember, I know there are more.

I so need a weekend away!

Boyd pickup the Maq papers one of the brothers saved for us, it had an awesome article about Loyd in it. The reporter has known Loyd forever and recapped Loyd's high school, college and working life. He even described the wrestling met when Boyd met Loyd's heavyweight in the last match - Boyd ended up tying and his team won the met. =)

I am a scrapbooker and I am overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to organize all of the articles and stuff we've gotten that are related to Loyd.

Happy Spring!

I'm sad to say I really don't know what the weather was like here today. I was working hard on a project that was scheduled to be finished today and rarely left my desk. Unfortunately things didn't work out and the project was delayed. :(

When I left work it was sprinkling and when we got home the pavement was wet. I didn't last long outside, I was cold. So no ball for Bud tonight but he and Daddy wrestled for awhile.

We relaxed while watching the national wrestling championship semi-finals. The Iowa team didn't do well - they are in second place going into the finals. Since they only advanced one wrestler I'm hoping they can hold onto that spot. I was very frustrated with the team and the refs - one of the guys seemed to give up in overtime. They have done so well all season and had been ranked #1 for most if not all of the season. Now a relatively unknown team in wrestling is winning... I think they paid off the refs. ha!

Happy Friday and welcome to spring!

One month

since we lost Loyd.

On the eve of the wrestling national championships I'm struggling with who we can call to discuss the tournament. Loyd always laughed at my comments and opinions on wrestling.

....it's been 9.5 yrs since Boyd and I have been together and he still hasn't taken me to a wrestling met. Loyd use to get a kick out of that - Boyd has so many excuses.

Love you Loyd & miss you.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I was pleasantly surprised to see most of my coworkers wearing green today. Generally the computer geeks don't really care what they wear. =)

Sweet Saturday

Wow I can not believe how much I packed into one day.

Due to lack of sleep and going to bed late I didn't get up until 10:51 AM. I haven't slept that late in forever. OK Technically I was up at 5:30 to get Boyd off to work but I wasn't that awake and went right back to bed.

So far today I've done this, in no particular order:
* opened all the curtains and let in the sun shine.
* took down the Christmas tree & decorations in our bedroom
* took down the Christmas decorations in the hallway
* took down the Christmas decorations in the bathroom - we have a 6 ft counter so it's a good spot for my favorite breakable stuff. :)
* made spaghetti
* unloaded the dishwasher
* loaded the dishwasher and ran it
* washed two loads of laundry - one is in the dryer and one is ready to be hung up.
* finished a scrapbook layout
* took Buddie out for a run - knuckle head made a run for it through the neighbors yard and out towards the new street. Momma was so not happy.
* walked out to get the mail
* surfed the net, checked email and read some of my favorite blogs.

Yes I still had half of my house decorated for Christmas when I woke up this morning. I was ready to take stuff down in January and Boyd asked if I would leave it up because it made the house feel homey. Now it's down to the main tree and the living room decorations - it takes 5 totes and I wasn't ready for that today.

I realized that watching cartoons from my generation is a good back drop for cleaning. I was surfing the net and watching some toons and realized I wanted to clean. Guess I know what I'm going to be watching err listening to on Saturday mornings from now on.

So spring cleaning has hit our household. Does anyone have a good plan for cleaning while working? I obviously need some help and we are the cleaning people. I tried some of the popular online plans and they just don't work for me. Also tried writing tasks on individual index cards and pulling different ones for each week and it doesn't work for Boyd so he talks me out of it too.

Plans for tomorrow include dusting and taxes - I don't like either one!

Off to enjoy a relaxing Saturday night - try to finish up dinner so it's ready for Boyd.
